Day 10 and "I only came in to buy...."

Day 10:
"Plain Top and Pearls" was an easy reminder that adding a statement necklace to any ordinary top immediately dresses up your look. As large as this pearl multi-strand necklace is, it never got in the way of my normal daily activities. This is yet another item in my closet that I had set aside for special occasions. I literally had to wipe dust off of it before putting it on! I don't see that happening again though. I will be bringing this baby out anytime I'm dressed down for a quick little outfit boost!
Now, I started searching different stores to find some fun necklaces for you all, but you know what? I just couldn't find anything that was spectacular enough. I went to Etsy and searched "multi-strand necklace" and so many amazing pieces popped up! So no link today but I highly suggest that if you are looking for an amazing and uniquely gorgeous piece, to head on over to Etsy!

And on to the second lart of this post....
Anyone else have an itsy bitsy problem when they go into Marshall's, TjMaxx or  Homegoods? By problem I mean "I only came in here to buy a picture frame and oh my gosh, are those boots on clearance?!" Does this happen to you?

I could spend hours and hours in these stores! I could redecorate every room in my house multiple times! It's like a treasure hunt. Aisles and aisles of awesomeness. You need shoes? Check. Pillows? Check. Random spices? Check check. How about a make up organizer, a dog bed, or a last minute birthday present? It's there! It's almost as bad as going into Target. What is it about these stores that makes you want to buy everything?
Above is today's loot. Let's call today's shopping adventure "Fun Find Friday"! That makes it more acceptable, right? I went in for an 8x10 picture frame and this is what happens. I seriously lack self control. However I'm going to go ahead and give myself a high five. I did walk past all the clothing. Didn't even stop and glance at anything! **Woman's clothing that is...I did buy my littlest his first Polo shirt 😉

Day 5: Lace and Pastel

Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a wonderful day with their familys! When I wrote my ideas out for the 30 Day Challenge, I luckily remembered to include an outfit for Easter. Lace and Pastel. I could have gone with a couple of different looks but when I talked to my father in law he made sure to tell me that Easter brunch was casual...."jeans casual". Yes, my over dressing for holidays and get togethers has made it so people now need to express to me how casual a get together is. So jeans it was.

Since I had to wear jeans I went with this gorgeous layered lace spaghetti strap top and a minty green cardigan. Lace and pastel...check. Added a multi-strand beaded necklace and some matching bangles and I was ready to go!

Couldn't resist including this goofy picture of little Miss Lily! 😍

I found this gorgeous lace off the shoulder top at Forever 21, HERE, that you may like. They also have a similar mint colored cardigan for only 12.90 which you can find HERE!

Day 4: Spring into Olive Pants

See what I did there with the title?? 😉 A little better than yesterday's, I think. Anywho....Today's theme was to wear "colored pants". I brought out my olive colored pants since I needed to be extra comfy and able to really move around. The Littles and I attended a fun birthday party for a lovely three year old girl at a sports center. Lots of music, movement and games so pants were a must today! That makes a birthday party every weekend for the last four weeks. All for three year olds! Fun stuff!

Usually I  would wear a black and white striped shirt with these pants, however today I wanted to keep it fresh and a bit more "neutral". I wore an off white tank with some charming lace detail along the shoulders and back, that I purchased from Old Navy last summer. The neutral tone of both the pants and top gave me the perfect excuse to wear my white Sperry's!

I then finished the look with a statement necklace and some coordinating bracelets. Mom note: Statement necklaces are great at hiding random stains on your shirt that you didn't realize were there. Thanks for wiping your mouth on my shirt when I gave you a hug, Lily! 🙄

You can find the exact same pants HERE on sale at Express.

Old Navy also has a very similar style of shirt on sale which you can find HERE in six wonderful colors! They also have this adorable crochet-yoke top, HERE, on sale as well!

See you all tomorrow! Hopen everyone has a wonderful Easter!

Day 2. No Jeans, Pants Day

Day 2 of my 30 Day Fashion Challenge. It's a cool 56* here today so I'm glad I had pants planned for the day. Jeans are always a go to item but like I said yesterday, I wanted to step out of the box a bit and put some of my unused clothes to use. I bought these linen pants a few yrs ago at Marshall'sc and have probably only worn them three or four times. They are comfy and casual so I'm not sure why I don't wear them more often. They do need to be ironed everytime I wear them so that most likely has something to do with it. I decided to keep my shirt simple and went with a black t-shirt and simple black Crocs.

Black Crocs can be found Here. Now I have to be honest. I have never been a Crocs wearing type of girl. I only bought these to wear kayaking down in Florida. However, I have been wearing these a lot lately. The Kadee, is a ballerina inspired flat and I'm a big fan of those so this was an obvious choice for me today.

You can find linen pants at Kohl's  on sale or you can also find a few different styles right now at Gap. I'm really liking the navy pants!

The Black Maxi

One of the most versatile dresses I own, and trust me I have a ton, is my black maxi dress. If you don't already own one I'd highly suggest you get one. The black maxi can be taken from casual to dressy in a matter of seconds! Wear it around the house or to run errands with some flip flops. Add a necklace, some chunky bracelets and maybe some wedges to bump it up a notch for a lunch or dinner date. Work ready? Sure!! Flats and a cardigan! Wedding reception? Add a bold necklace and some heels. Maybe even a cardigan depending on the season, time and style of reception.

I have had this maxi for years and knew it would be perfect to bring on our vacation just because of all the different ways it could be worn. Little Black Dresses are a staple for every women but so is a black maxi! There is one out there for every woman. I've seen T-shirt styles, halters, strappy V-necks, high-lows, silk and cotton. So many options and styles, you're sure to find one you'll love!
If you already have one, share with us your favorite look!

The One Shirt Every Woman Needs!

The one shirt that I have found to be the most versatile and timeless is the Chambray Shirt. The ways to wear this shirt are not only endless but can be worn all four seasons! I've put together six cold weather outfits to give you an idea on how to mix up your look.

1. My number one look lately has got to be laying my chambray shirt under a sweater or cardigan and rolling the sleeves up. I love the look of a patterned or stripped sweater but a solid color works just as well! Classic yet not too preppy!

2. Tuck your denim shirt into a skirt, any length works, for a fun yet simple style that can easily go from running errands to a lunch date with a friend!

3. The contrast of wearing a denim shirt with white jeans (don't be scared) just looks so crisp and clean to me. You know, as long as it wasn't finger painting day for your toddler! Have to protect these white jeans. ;) Add some knee high boots, a statement necklace, and you'll be ready to take on the day.

4. One of the most popular looks that I've seen, would hands down have to be wearing it over a black and white striped tee or blouse. There is something just so classic about this look. Normally, I would probably wear a long gold necklace or a bold long red statement necklace for a little "pop" of fun but with a grabby baby that just doesn't work at the moment.

5. Denim on denim. It can be done. My personal opinion is that if you are going to do this, your top should either be darker or lighter than your blue jeans. I just feel that the contrast is visually more pleasing and also easier than worrying about trying to find the right shade shirt that matches your pants.
Whenever I do the denim on denim look, I make sure to add a bit of brightness to my ensemble. Here, I paired it with my cream and orange flats and a coordinating bag.

6. Another way to layer the chambray is to layer it over a dress. This works with different length dresses. Maxi to shorter. Button it down, wear it as a light cardigan, belt it with a skinny belt, or even just tie it around your waist.
I choose to (as seen in an early post) wear my denim shirt, buttoned down and under a stripped t-shirt dress. Then belt it and pair it with black tights and boots.

Hope this gave you some ideas ways to wear your chambray shirt! These are just some cold weather ideas. Can't wait for summer when I can find new fun ways to wear this shirt!

Here are a few places that you can get one if you don't already own one or just want another in different shade! Just click on the store name to take you straight to a denim shirt at a great price!
