Heels and Girlfriend Jeans

 Okay so I kind of cheated with the no buying clothes.... I went to Express to see if they had a white fitted cardigan. They didn't. However they did have this gorgeous blush colored top. It has a romantic feel to it with its ruffles and one shoulder look. As I said I kind of cheated...why "kind of" well because I had a gift card. See, that's totally okay, right? Technically I didn't spend any money. Okay, okay. I failed. It was a no shopping challenge not a no buying challenge. I totally failed. I suck. I couldn't even make it the 30 days. Ugh!!
In spite of my failure at not shopping, I did at least do today's challenge which was to wear heels with 'girlfriend' jeans. Super realistic as a SAHM, stay at home mom, don't you think? ***eye roll*** What was I thinking? After looking at the pictures and the height of these heels, I will be changing them to a more classic 2" black heel pump. Not only will that be more reasonable for a day heel but will match better with the overall look. I accessorized my new top with a long blush and neutral toned necklace, gold stackable rings and a long knitted navy cardigan. I'm also wearing one of my favorite hats. Which, confession time, I wear due to the fact that I can barely ever find the time, have the patience or knowledge to style my hair.

  Black heels made a huge difference!

Romper

 Brought out last year's Romper for today and so did Asia's bff Sarah. Should make me feel young and hip but just kind of made me feel old. Her romper is way cooler! A casual off the shoulder style and pockets. Pockets!! A romper with pockets is almost as amazing as a dress with pockets! Just call me jelly! Now don't get me wrong. I love my romper with its 3/4 length sleeves, olive and navy color but the material is polyester giving it a more dressy look which unfortunately is hard to dress down. Let's Keep it Real

 I'm going to go ahead and admit that today could be considered a fail. Day 16 and I had plans for a casual vintage outfit. I put on an old faded Star Wars shirt for my vintage inspiration and my white jeans. Super cute even though my "vintage" wasn't lace or pearls. Well, during breakfast Grayson not only threw his Cheerios and blueberries around but preceeded to smash his pouch and it squirted viciously along the leg of my innocent and spotless white jeans! I may or may not have cried out "Look what you've done, you monster!" All three kids may or may not have laughed and I may or may not have shed a tear.

Off I went back upstairs to sulk and attempt to find something vintage. I'm going to be real though and let you know that I just Was. Not. Feeling it today. Not because of the pouch incident but mostly because I'm just having an off day. Today's plans consisted of vacuuming, mopping, organizing the kitchen and living room and cleaning the fire place. I had extra things to do and still hadn't gone into the chicken coop to collect eggs and feed the chickens. So after I changed into my new "Vintage" inspired get up and took a picture I went back upstairs, put on leggings, my now slightly food covered Star Wars shirt and a hoody. And you know what? I'm okay with that. I'm still going to finish out the 30 Days. I'm not even going to consider today a fail. I'm going to consider it what it is. Mom life. I'm going to be proud of myself for putting in effort everyday but knowing not to go nuts about it. Here I am below. The Black Maxi

One of the most versatile dresses I own, and trust me I have a ton, is my black maxi dress. If you don't already own one I'd highly suggest you get one. The black maxi can be taken from casual to dressy in a matter of seconds! Wear it around the house or to run errands with some flip flops. Add a necklace, some chunky bracelets and maybe some wedges to bump it up a notch for a lunch or dinner date. Work ready? Sure!! Flats and a cardigan! Wedding reception? Add a bold necklace and some heels. Maybe even a cardigan depending on the season, time and style of reception.

I have had this maxi for years and knew it would be perfect to bring on our vacation just because of all the different ways it could be worn. Little Black Dresses are a staple for every women but so is a black maxi! There is one out there for every woman. I've seen T-shirt styles, halters, strappy V-necks, high-lows, silk and cotton. So many options and styles, you're sure to find one you'll love!

On Florida Vacation Mode

What's better than being on vacation? Being on vacation when it's warm, sunny and knowing that you just missed a giant snow storm! As much as I love New England's four seasons, it's defiantly wonderful taking a break from the cold and layered clothing and jumping right into shorts and sandals! I had so much fun packing and thinking up outfits that would look amazing and really capture the warmth and happiness of a Florida spring, that when I got here I realized that I didn't pack one "normal" comfy t-shirt! Oh well, at least I'll be stylish in every picture.

Now I have to be honest. These gorgeous platform wedges were only worn for this picture and then I changed them to a pair of comfy Sperry's. The wedges just wouldn't have done well on the dirt trail at the petting zoo 😉
